Designing And Building A Bespoke Listed Building Control And Workflow System

In a competitive tender, Sopra Group won the contract to design and build a bespoke Listed Building Control and Workflow System.  This was based on a flexible, multi-tier architecture using standard SCOTS II components.  The system provides an intuitive interface to support the workflow for Listed Building Consent applications within Historic Scotland and provides a solid foundation from which to build additional future business applications. 

Chief Technical Architect, John Batchelor, reviewed Historic Scotland's requirements for the current Listed Building Control system.  In reviewing the proposed architecture and application design, he highlighted the opportunity to make a positive impact on project costs and timescales by designing and incorporating specially designed components.  These components operate within the parameters of the SCOTS II architecture and were developed as part of the project without charge to Historic Scotland.

We regarded this exercise as part of our continued investment in our long-term development partnership with Historic Scotland and the Scottish Government in general.  In addition, we delivered Historic Scotland a cost-effective solution attaining maximum return on Historic Scotland's investment for the following specific reasons:
